Goddess Interrupted
Aimee Carter
Harlequin Teen, Mar 27 2012, $9.99
ISBN: 9780373210459

Kate Winters barely survived the seven tests the Council made her endure to prove her worthiness. However, she passed gaining immortality as the soon to be crowned Queen of the Underworld and marriage to her beloved Henry. They have a trusting arrangement in which she spends the wintry months with Henry in Eden and the summer doing her thing.

However, Kate feels isolated from her beloved who appears aloof rather than loving her on her return to his side. During her coronation, an epiphany hits Kate that Henry does not love her; he marries her out of a sense of duty. Before she can respond yes to wedding him anyway as hope is eternal, Titans crash the ceremony. Gods fear the Titans who created them and can kill them. Calliope most likely arranged for the awakening of King Cronus who has kidnapped her Henry. Kate needs help to rescue her beloved from the dungeons inside the Gates of Cronus; which means turning to her deadliest rival, Henry’s first wife, Persephone.

The sequel to The Goddess test is an exciting fantasy starring an intrepid heroine who risks her immortality to save her beloved. The storyline is fast-paced yet readers obtain an intriguing look at the Underworld. Besides thoroughly entertaining, Goddess Interrupted encourages the young adult audience to read the Greek mythological classics (not just the terrific movies) as Aimee Carter spins a wonderful modernization.
